Mission and Purpose Statement

Amnesty Freedom is a nonpartisan, nonreligious humanitarian organization dedicated to supporting individuals who have experienced social exclusion, discrimination, or persecution due to their beliefs, non-beliefs, or decisions to question, leave, or disengage from religious or cultural practices.

The individuals served by Amnesty Freedom include, but are not limited to, atheists; former members of religious communities; individuals who have converted to a different faith; and individuals who identify culturally with a religion but do not actively practice it. Regardless of background or belief, these individuals share a common experience of marginalization, loss of community support, and social isolation arising from the exercise of freedom of conscience.

Many face excommunication, harassment, or rejection by their former communities and are left without adequate support systems to pursue personal safety, dignity, and fundamental freedoms, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Amnesty Freedom exists to provide a safe, inclusive, and judgment-free environment for such individuals.

The organization promotes freedom through forgiveness, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence. Amnesty Freedom fosters an environment in which people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives may interact, grow, and support one another without fear of discrimination, coercion, or retaliation. Individuals are accepted as they are, without requirement to adopt any belief, ideology, or identity.

Amnesty Freedom operates on the principles of human dignity, empathy, and nonviolence. Its guiding values include treating others with fairness and respect, encouraging compassion toward neighbors and adversaries alike, and upholding the belief that freedom for one must not become harm to another.

The organization’s mission is freedom for all, menace to none. Amnesty Freedom seeks to reduce social harm caused by intolerance and exclusion, recognizing that societal well-being depends on mutual restraint, understanding, and the protection of fundamental human rights for all people.
